Wife of New A&M Coach Ready to Get Back Into Spirit of Aggieland

Updated: Fri 11:31 PM, Jul 27, 2012

A huge crowd turned out this past Wednesday night at Kyle Field's Zone Club in anticipation of a new football season, and to hear new Texas A&M Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin talk about playing in the Southeastern Conference.

It was just one of 6 Coach's nights held all over the state, this one sponsored by the Brazos County A&M Club.

But it was Charlene Sumlin's first Coach's Night. She and her husband used to live here 10 years ago when Sumlin was an assistant coach at A&M under R.C. Slocum.

News 3 asked her about the transition.

"What about the Aggie Spirit? You've been through this before. I missed it. I missed it. I'm so excited. I can't wait to jump back into the yells. I love it. I missed it. We're very excited."

One of the 4 Sumlin children was born in College Station 10 years ago.

Charlene says this was one of the easiest moves in the life of a coaching family that has taken them to Norman, Oklahoma and to Houston.
