Walker County- One contract worker was burned after a gas well explosion in Walker County on Tuesday around 4:15 pm.

The 35-year old worker from Pioneer in San Antonio was flown to Memorial Hermann in Houston. He is said to be in stable condition with burns on 20% of his body.

Walker County Emergency Management says a flash fire ignited as workers were bleeding gas from the well, later causing the explosion.

The well is owned by Bluestone Natural Resources, and is located near FM 247 and Lost Indian Camp Road approximately 8 miles north of Huntsville.
