An accident Sunday evening claims the life of a motorist on Highway 6. It happened around 7 pm just north of Calvert.
DPS officers say a blue minivan was travelling south, and attempted to pass on the right shoulder. The driver of the minivan apparently decided to get back in his lane, and witnesses say his vehicle clipped the car he was trying to pass and sent it into the ditch.
Witnesses told Highway Patrol the minivan swerved to the left and hit an oncoming truck. First responders say the driver of the minivan was dead when they arrived.
The person driving the truck was flown to Scott and White in Temple. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
DPS officers believe the driver of the pickup truck may be a College Station resident. The name of the other driver has not been released.
