Volunteer Aggie Splits Loyalties for Big Game

Tuesday's "Elite Eight" matchup between the Aggie women and Lady Volunteers from Tennessee is causing mixed feelings for one local basketball fan.

Former Brazos County Justice-of-the-Peace Charles Ellis graduated from Tennessee and is a huge Volunteer fan. But having lived in Brazos County for close to 40 years, he's also a big Aggie fan.

So Ellis is showing his split loyalties by splitting his wardrobe. From the waist up, he's all Aggie with an A&M cap and shirt. From the waist down, he's a proud Volunteer with bright orange Tennessee wind pants and sneakers bearing the "Vols" logo.

"I'm hoping that one of the teams will win," Ellis said with a chuckle. "In this particular case, I am having a hard time having a favorite."

Ellis said he predicted the matchup the day the brackets were announced. Despite torn feelings for both teams, Ellis sees the positive side. "No matter who wins, I win," he said.
