The Marine wanted in the killing of a pregnant colleague is now awaiting extradition to the U.S. from Mexico.
The FBI says bureau agents and Mexican authorities arrested
Cesar Laurean at about 6 p.m. Thursday in Mexico after a three-month international manhunt. Officials say Laurean was detained in the small western Mexican town of Tacambaro.
Laurean is charged with murder in the death of fellow Marine Maria Lauterbach, whose burned remains and those of her fetus were found in January in his backyard in North Carolina.
The FBI says it hopes Laurean can be brought back to the U.S. as
quickly as possible. But a prosecutor in North Carolina says it could be a year or two before Laurean returns if he fights extradition.
