An investigation is underway after human remains are found in Grimes County.
A simple logging and clearing effort near Richards led to the gruesome discovery.
It was Saturday afternoon that authorities say the skeletal remains were found in a densely wooded area off County Road 234. That's north of Richards and south of Shiro on the east-central side of the county.
Grimes County authorities called in the Texas Rangers, who then asked for FBI help in collecting the evidence.
So far, authorities say no gender, race or cause of death is known, but a forensic anthropologist at the University of North Texas is examining the remains.
