A day after a Blinn student's death is ruled a murder, a friend of Jenna Verhaalen speaks to News 3.
Verhaalen's body was found in her apartment on Hollow Hill Drive apartment, on April 9th.
For two weeks police called her death suspicious.
Yesterday, after receiving a medical examiner's report, the 20-year-old's death was ruled a homicide.
Verhaalen moved to Texas from Wisconsin, at the beginning of her high school years.
Friend Amanda Thiele says Jenna was one of her best friends.
"look how many people when their best friends move away actually keep in contact and stay true and talk all the time. That was her. She was a very loyal, caring, compassionate person and I can't believe anything like this would happen to such a wonderful, caring and compassionate person," said Thiele.
Thiele says the Verhaalen family plans to hold a memorial for Jenna in Wisconsin, this summer.
Bryan police haven't made any arrests in this case yet, but say they have several persons of interest.
