Supercell Rips through Central Texas

After spending several days in a warm and humid airmass, unstable energy was finally released Friday evening resulting in several intense storms across Central Texas.

One storm managed to turn supercellular, resulting in a possible tornado near Morgan's Point, west of Temple in Bell county. The same storm, which moved across Bell and Williamson counties over a two hour period, also produced baseball size hail and a spectacular lightning show.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were also issued for Lee, Milam, Robertson, and Washington counties in the News 3 viewing area. Most of the warnings were issued to address large hail and gusty winds in excess of 60 mph.

A temporary break has lasted for most of Saturday, but more storms are forecast Sunday morning. Showers and thunderstorms are possible before noon Sunday, afterwhich temperatures are forecast to drop into the 40s Monday morning, following a late-season cold front.
