Fallout Continues From Local Cattle Disease

First, a foreign disease killed several cattle at a Robertson County ranch. Now, Camp Cooley is having to sell off most of its herd.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture put many of the ranch's cattle on hold from being sold while they made sure no other cattle were affected by the disease.

That hold cost the ranch nearly $2 million.

To generate money for that loss, the ranch has decided to sell 3,000 head of cattle. Officials with the ranch say they will be keeping their commercial cows and those still under the hold.

The disease is believed to have originated from wildebeests that also live on the ranch.
