Tired of Texas Avenue construction slowing you down? Well, after Tuesday morning, your life will get a little better. The $17 million widening project is inching towards completion.
Monday, beginning at 7pm, the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) contractor will switch northbound and southbound traffic to the inside lane between FM 2818 and Francis Street along Texas Avenue.
This switch is necessary for the removal of existing work zone pavement markings and the installation of new permanent pavement markings.
Work operations will continue through Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Once all work operations are completed Tuesday morning, traffic will be able to use all six lanes of Texas Avenue.
Delays are to be expected until this work is completed. An alternate
route should be used in order to bypass the construction.
TxDOT says after this traffic switch it will have minor work left.
Another turn lane will be added to Harvey Rd. and cracked pavement needs to be fixed in some areas.
If all goes well, the project will be completed by mid-July.
