Driver inattention is the official cause of a weekend accident in Grimes County that killed two people.
It happened Saturday afternoon on Highway 90 near Bedias.
Troopers say the driver of a car, Jonathan Bohorquez, drifted off the road, over corrected and hit an oncoming car.
Bohorquez was taken to a Houston hospital by helicopter where he is listed in critical condition.
His passenger, Eulalio Garza III, 44, was killed in the crash. Garza was a Prairie View A&M professor and had just attended graduation ceremonies. He was an assistant professor of educational leadership and director of the Prairie View A&M University Dallas education center.
Memorial services in honor of Dr. Garza will be held at the Cedar Valley College campus in Dallas on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. and a Rosary Service is planned at 6:30 p.m. Both services will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m., at Saints Cyril and Methodious Church in Corpus Christi.
Also killed in the crash was Phillip Bigbee, 29, of Round Top. He was in the car that was hit and died at the scene.
