It was a gorgeous day to be outdoors and that's exactly what what some local students did.

Students at St. Joseph Elementary have been writing their own stories and today got a chance to read them to others.
They even dressed up as their favorite storybook character.
The school has put more focus into reading the past couple of years and it has paid off.
They raised their standardized achievement test by 15 percent.
A parade was also held this morning.
