Twenty-four years later, a ceremony will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. to cut the ribbon and ceremonially open the newly reworked road.
Cars will now be able to drive under the railroad tracks instead of over them.
City Councilman Ben Hardeman will not only provide some historic perspective on the project, but will also drive one of his Model T's under the overpass.
By the way, a couple of the top selling cars in 1984 were the Chevy Cavalier and the Ford Escort.
