An oil rig worker has been hospitalized in what appears to be a bizarre oil rig accident.
It was around 6:30 p.m. that authorities say a giant block fell off a drill and landed on a worker on the rig, which is just northeast of Bremond on private property.
The man was airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
Early estimates from the scene had that block weighing in the neighborhood of 35,000 pounds, but that is a rough estimate.
Aquila Oil and Drilling, a Wichita Falls-based company, has ownership of the rig according to authorities.
The worker's condition is unknown.
