A former College Station city manager says his days of public service are over. After serving five years as city manager of Corpus Christi, George "Skip" Noe has resigned.

He says he was asked by the city council Friday to resign or retire. He decided to do both.

Noe's resignation was accepted during a special Sunday afternoon meeting. But then the council elected to have him stay on for 90 more days to facilitate the transition. He'll also receive roughly $80,000 in severance pay.

Noe served as College Station city manager from 1995-1999.
