Seven families received the keys to their new home Friday thanks to the Habitat For Humanity Builder's Blitz.
Eight local homebuilders and volunteers started building last Saturday and achieved their goal of building seven homes in just seven days.
A dedication ceremony was held Friday at the Angels Gate subdivision in Bryan.
Last Thursday, the community's generous contributions during News 3's donation drive helped make one of those homes a reality.
The Zapata family partnered with Habitat in the fall of 2007 with the dream of one day owning their own home.
Stephanie Zapata has two small children, David and Angelica who long to have a safe and secure place to call home.
Stephanie has been required to complete a series of home ownership workshop classes, 500 hours of sweat equity, and pay a down payment on her family's new home. After the family moves into their new home they will also pay a monthly house note.
