Anyone hitting the road this weekend, woke up to a surprise at the pump.
Nationwide, gas prices for regular unleaded, shot up to $4 a gallon overnight.
Here in the Brazos Valley, at least one gas station is close to the $4 mark.
For the most part, we're still a little below the average, but lower or not, drivers say a fill-up still hurts.
"I just filled up a 4 cylinder Acura for 50 bucks and I remember when I bought it when I was 16, it was about 22 to fill it up so you're looking at 50 compared to 22, so its getting up there," said driver Philip Armes.
Analysts expect prices to continue to climb. A year ago, gas was just over $3 a gallon.
