Two Now Dead in Leon County Accident

An accident in Leon County is now a double fatality as another victim clings to life.

It happened last night on I-45 near Buffalo. In all, authorities say four vehicles collided. One driver was reportedly going too fast in the southbound lanes and collided with another southbound car.

Those two then spilled out of control, across a grassy median and into northbound traffic.

Dennis Stankas, 58 of Houston, died at the scene. Authorities say he was the driver of the speeding vehicle that started the chain reaction wreck.

Megan Grace, 29 of Mansfield, was taken to Tyler for treatment, but died there late Sunday night. She was the passenger of a car in the northbound lane when the southbound cars spilled over.

James Grace, 32, was driving. He was last listed in critical condition with head injuries. It's unknown what his relationship is to Megan.
