Adult Businesses, Annexation on the Agenda in Bryan

Tuesday night's city council meeting in Bryan could drastically alter the rules regarding adult businesses in the city.

A public hearing will be held at the beginning of the regular session around 6 p.m. Following that, the council will vote on the first reading of those new ordinances.

This all comes following last months debate over Cindie's Lingerie, the store which was protested by some citizens. In the end, the store was allowed to remain in its Texas Avenue location, but some city officials said the rules and regulations regarding adult business were vague.

A much longer pair of ordinances will go before the council Tuesday.

Also during the meeting, the council could give the go-ahead to begin the annexation process for three outlying areas.

In total, more than 4,300 acres could be brought into the city limits, with 266 residences on that land.
