A head-on collision Friday afternoon in Robertson County leaves two people hospitalized.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. just north of Calvert.
Witnesses say traffic traveling north on Highway 6 had to stop suddenly because a car that was sitting on the side of the road entered back into traffic.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the driver of an 18-wheeler headed north on Highway 6 veered into oncoming traffic to avoid slamming into the cars in front of him.
The tractor trailer hit a Ford pickup head-on. The jaws of life was used to extract the couple in the truck.
Husband and wife, Don and Johnnie Cotton of Houston, were taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Officials say they are going to be ok.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Traffic was backed up five miles north of Calvert while both lanes of Highway 6 were closed just south of Highway 14.
