The Texas Education Agency assessed more than 2.5 million kids, grades third through 12. The study found that among third graders, 28 percent of the boys and 32 percent of the girls reached healthy fitness levels.
By seventh grade, the numbers dropped to 17 percent for the guys, 21 percent for the girls. By grade 12, only nine percent of the males and eight percent of the females were fit.
