The Texas A&M grohome is on display in the parking lot of the Bush Library.
It was built by architecture students for the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon.
The house is self-sufficient in many weather conditions and can even produce extra energy.
Designed to grow with the owners, certain walls can be removed and replaced without affecting the rest of the home.
Designers say the point is to add rooms incrementally so the owners have smaller loans and less debt.
The home can be toured through the fall.
