South College Station residents now have one more road to get lost on.

The Dartmouth extension officially opened Monday morning, which connects Krenek Tap Road with Harvey Mitchell Parkway. A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the grand opening, and was attended by many prominent city officials, including Fire Chief R. B Alley and Police Chief Michael Ikner.

The four lane road has a bike path on each side, as well as sidewalks and a decorative bridge with lighting.

The project to extend Dartmouth began in January of 2007 with a budget of four million dollars.

Officials say they hope the new road will help relieve congestion on south Texas Avenue as well as around Highway 6
