Almost two years after construction started, Bryan's Justice Center is almost finished.
The Bryan Municipal Court marked its first day Monday inside the new building. The court made the move this weekend. It is now spreading the news about the new location, that has a fresh look.
"It has a very professional, modern look," Municipal Court Administrator Hilda Cuthbertson said. "The customers or defendants will be able to sit down rather than stand once they get to the counter. Also, our lobby area is smaller than it was over there, but we hope to move folks a little faster."
The Bryan Police Department is getting ready to move in as well. Bryan city officials say that should happen by mid-August.
The initial move in date was winter 2007, but we're told construction crews were plagued with weather delays.
The cost of the building is $17.5 million. City officials say that was the projected cost and no changes were made to stay on budget.
