A felony theft charge against a former Normangee mayor has been dismissed.

A judge ordered the case against Tim Taylor be dropped after state attorneys said they lack sufficient evidence to prosecute.

Taylor, along with former Normangee City Secretary Heather Spikes, were indicted in December for theft by a public servant. The charges stemmed from a Texas Attorney General's investigation into misappropriated funds.

Spikes pleaded guilty in February to a reduced, misdemeanor charge of theft. She's currently serving probation.
