Bryan Hires Local Reporter to Head City Communications

From covering the city to promoting it: that's the transition a local reporter is making.

April Avison, who for more than three years has covered Bryan and College Station government for the Bryan-College Station Eagle, has been named the communications director for the City of Bryan.

Avison has reported for newspapers in Huntsville and a city in Georgia, along with Texas A&M's student newspaper.

“As an organization, we are excited to have April join our team," said Bryan City Manager David Watkins. "April is energetic, positive, and enthusiastic, and I am pleased we found someone who has established ties with the local media. She brings many years of experience in the media and understands the needs of reporters and others covering local government issues."

Avison starts at the city August 18.
