A much-debated teen curfew has been finally approved in Caldwell. But not before some concessions were made.
The final version allows teens, age 17 and under, an extra hour during the week and weekends. It runs from midnight to 6 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday; 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Previously, the curfew was proposed to begin at 11 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
Those exempted from the new ordinance include any high school graduate, regardless of age. Also, any teen driving another teen to, or from, a job.
The curfew is on a six-month trial basis, after which it will be reevaluated by the city council.
