The Olympic games are just days away, and Texas A&M will be well represented in Beijing, China.
Seventeen Aggie athletes and coaches representing nine different countries will compete, which is the most in school history.
The group is made up of current and former students including Stacy Sykora, who was named to the USA women's Olympic volleyball team for the third time, and Vic Wunderle, Aggie Class of 2002, who was named to the USA archery Olympic team for the third consecutive time.
"Just making the Olympics is a great accomplishment and I know everyone at Texas A&M is very proud of our student-athletes, coaches and former students who have qualified for the Beijing Olympic Games," Aggie Director of Athletics Bill Byrne said. "We wish them all the very best in the upcoming competitions."
The last Aggie to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games was in 2000 when Aggie standout Jennifer McFalls was part of the U-S Gold Medal softball team.
The opening ceremonies are scheduled for Aug. 8 with closing ceremonies set for Aug. 24.
