Bedias Man Struck, Killed on Highway Shoulder

A Bedias man whose car broke down early Friday morning did not make it home.

Just after midnight, DPS says Phelogan Butaud, 33, was walking home from his stranded car on a portion of Highway 90 just north of Highway 30 near Roans Prairie.

That's when they say Butaud walked into the road and was hit. He died on the scene, according to DPS, about five miles from his home.

Troopers say no charges will be filed against the driver of the car, and no one in the vehicle that hit Butaud was injured.

Authorities say there was no shoulder on the portion of Highway 90 where Butaud was walking.
