An afternoon of celebration turns into a day of horror for a Washington County Little League team as one of its own drowns.

Tyrick Bonner, 14, was pronounced dead around 4 p.m. Saturday after paramedics pulled him from a pond at the Gun & Rod Country Club on FM 577.

Bonner was with friends, family and teammates celebrating the successful playoff run of the Washington County Junior All Stars.

He's described as a superb athlete and wonderful young man. No word yet on funeral arrangements.
