Conroe Police Officer Dies in Motorcycle Crash

The Conroe Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Sgt. Gary Hardage, 40, of New Waverly died Monday around 1:30 a.m. when his motorcycle crashed into an SUV. He was off duty at the time.

Authorities say the SUV pulled out of a Taco Bell in front of Hardage. Investigators say he hit the brakes and laid the the bike down but couldn't avoid the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hardage served on the Conroe force for 15 years. He leaves behind a wife, also a Conroe police officer, and three children.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 14, at 1 p.m. at The Ark Family Church, 450 Humble Tank Rd. in Conroe.
