Lightning is blamed for starting three Burleson County fires Friday, including one large grassfire near Caldwell.

Authorities estimate more than 300 acres went up in smoke off County Road 208. It started shortly after 5 p.m. and was finally brought under control around 9 p.m.

Two more Friday fires in Deanville are also believed to have been started by lightning.
