A man is back on the streets after allegedly assaulting a College Station police officer.

Authorities say Nicholas Darnley, 21, was approached by an officer in the 400 block of University Drive Saturday morning for public intoxication, when he suddenly began to get aggressive.

Police say that's when Darnley began to punch and choke the officer trying to arrest him, and then tried to make a run for it.

After a brief chase ,the officer caught up to Darnley and arrested him at the scene.

Darnley spent only a few hours in the Brazos County Jail before bonding out Saturday evening.
