As Hurricane Gustav approaches, College Station leaders have decided to turn Veterans Park into a reception center for evacuees.
Starting at noon Sunday, evacuees needing shelter in College Station should go to the park, located at 3101 Harvey Road.

College Station has provided the following job description:
"Standing/Stooping/Bending/Walking for long periods. You will have the opportunity to rest but will be on your feet for long periods of time. Volunteers must have good oral communication skills. The work site will be outdoors.
"Veterans Park has been designated as the access point for individuals and families that need shelter. Your job will be to provide shelter cards and directions to designated shelters. Families and individuals seeking shelter will enter Veterans Park. You will count the number of people in the vehicle and give each person a card for a particular shelter. You may also be providing water, aid in getting to and from the restroom, and giving general information and directions."
