Development of downtown Bryan is paying off.

The city has been named a finalist for the Best Public Improvement Award by the Texas Downtown Association.

Bryan's downtown master plan was approved in 2001. Since then, the city has implemented two phases of its plan and invested more than $1.1 million in infrastructure improvements.

Awards will be presented at the 2008 Texas Downtown Revitalization Conference in November.
