Madisonville Institution Will Continue Serving

It may not go on as a pharmacy, but a downtown Madisonville tradition will continue.

Walker's has new ownership and will continue its café service.

In July, former owner Ken Martin sold the pharmacy portion of the store to Brookshire Brothers after more than three decades of ownership, but a pair of Madisonville families will keep the restaurant going.

They're even extending their hours to let kids come in after school, and Walker's will be open after high school football games and on Saturdays.

The soda fountain has been serving up drinks at that location since 1914.
