There are several events scheduled for September 11, 2008 in the Brazos Valley, the seventh anniversary of 9-11.
1. Annual 9/11 Memorial Ride at Independence Harley-Davidson, 10 a.m.
All bikes and riders are welcome.
The route usually goes to veteran's park, but due to Hurricane Ike and possible evacuations, that route may be changed.
There will be hot dogs and apple pie at the dealership after the ride, free of charge
2. Remembering 9-11, 9 a.m.
A moment of silence and prayer will be held under the flags in front of the Metro Center at 3833 south Texas Avenue in Bryan
3. Texas A&M Conservatives Memorialize 9/11Victims, all day
The Texas A&M Chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas is placing 2,977 flags at the Academic Plaza, one for each person killed in the 9-11 attacks.
4. Texas A&M Young Conservatives of Texas debate, 6:30 p.m.
The Young Conservatives of Texas at Texas A&M University will be hosting a debate on international terrorism at 6:30 p.m. on September 11, 2008 in Rudder Theater.
On the 7th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, Dr. Harvey Kushner and Mr. Scott Horton will debate the following question: "Is the United States pursuing the correct strategy against international terrorism?"
5. Elks Lodge #859 9-11 Ceremony, 7 p.m.
There will be a ceremony to commemorate those lost on 9-11, following the VFW memorial at Southwood Valley Park in College Station.
6. Statue To Be Dedicated To War Hero, Alumnus Sept. 11, 11 a.m.
The Sam Houston State University statue that pays homage to two war heroes and an artist will receive its official dedication on Thursday, September 11.
The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. between Academic Building I and the Smith-Hutson Building.

7. Cry Out America! September 11 Assembly, 12 p.m.
Brazos County Courthouse officials invites the public to join them in a time of prayer for the protection and well-being of our nation!
County courthouses in America will be the site of many gatherings of united prayer on this important day in our history. Inclement weather site TBD.

8. Remember and Honor those who Serve, 6 p.m.
The Ceremony at Veterans Park in College Station has now been moved to Southwood Valley Park due to Hurricane Ike evacuees.
It will include a tribute to our First Responders here in Bryan/College Station, and to conclude with the laying of a wreath and playing of TAPS.
A display of cards/letters written by our local school children will be sent to our troops overseas with the non-perishable items donated by the public and collected during the event and until November 18th.
A Moon Walk, face painting and much more will make the event one to REMEMBER.
The Bryan/College Station Fire Departments, Police and First Responders will have displays, as well as the various military groups who are participating.
