In what has been described as "creative backfeeding," MidSouth Synergy has gotten the lights back on for many customers, and is actively working to restore power to multiple area counties affected by Hurricane Ike.
A spokesperson for MidSouth says approximately 1,500 customers have had their power restored over the last 24 hours as crews are working diligently to repair damage.
Here are the latest estimates of outages for MidSouth customers:
Montgomery County - 5,000-6,000
Walker County - 1,600
Madison County - 400-500
Grimes County - 400
There are also a handful of customers in Brazos and Waller Counties who are without power.
When it comes to Montgomery County customers, a spokesman says it may be at least a week before power is back on there.
