Texas Task Force One has been busy, as they so often are in times of major crisis in Texas.
So far, the College Station-based task force has performed more than 3,700 search and rescue operations concerning Hurricane Ike, and completed 2,100 total rescues, including 1,600 ground and water rescues.
The teams have also assessed about 1,500 structures and homes.
Here are the numbers from Texas Task Force 1:
Rescues:
Air - 474
Ground/Water - 1,634
Total Rescues - 2,108
Air Sortie's (ALL) - 600
Assists w/o evac - 1,635 (* these are cases where we make contact with residents who rode-out the storm and still don't want to leave)
Structures and homes assessed - 1,500
Total search and rescue operations to date - 3,743
