Lights are back on for portions of Grimes County, but most of Navasota is still in the dark. The majority of the city has been powerless for three days now and officials say it could be another five to seven days before the power's back on.

But it all boils down to who your electric provider is...

Mid South Synergy customers on one side of Highway 6 have had power for days.

But Entergy users on the other side of the tracks haven't been so fortunate.

Kids are outside playing hopscotch at Majorie Minor's house in downtown Navasota.

"Their mama bought them some games, so they've been playing them," Minor said. "They're taking it better than I am."

But days without power are beginning to take their toll on Minor.

"I've been fussing, but it doesn't do any good," Minor said.

The heat of summer can be felt inside her downtown Navasota home. Even the family fish aren't responding well.

"It's been hot, but this morning it's been cooler. We opened up all the windows and are doing ok," Minor said.

"We're so lucky they have electricity here and guest rooms," Molly Kolbachinski said.

On the other side of Highway 6, Kolbachinski and her daughter Holly left their powerless home in Stoneham to stay with friends on the other side of Navasota.

"If you go through Navasota there's nothing than just a few houses lit up," Kolbachinski said.

Fortunately for Molly, her friends owned one of those houses.

"We came over here last night and took showers and stuff because it was getting kind of gross," Kolbachinski said.

Now the pair is getting to ride out the storm in style with refrigerated food, A/C, and a front row seat to all the action.

"I think she was missing the cartoons," Kolbachinski said.

Generators are still being used at the water and sewage plants in the county, so city officials are continuing to ask residents to conserve water.

A curfew has been put in place again Monday night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
