A former A&M consolidated quarterback is accused of robbing a College Station motel.
Police say 35 year old Tommy Ray Preston Junior of Bryan forced a clerk into a back room at the La Quinta Inn on Texas Avenue after assaulting that clerk.
Officers say Preston took cash and the clerk's personal lap top computer before he ran away.
Police noticed a vehicle leaving the area and followed it to the Hilton parking lot on University Drive. There, officers say Preston tried to run again, but was caught near the Republic Steak House on Tarrow Street.
This is not Preston's first run in with the law.
Since 1992, he has been in the Brazos County jail 25 different times.
Preston was Consol's quarterback in 1990.
