UPDATE 11:00am Sept 17th:
Coufal Prater Equipment in Bryan (John Deere Dealership on Hwy 21) has received a shipment of 100 new generators. They are rated to run 800 to 1000 hours.
They're heavy and they're a hot commodity.
Despite their high cost, generators are a popular item anywhere you can find them. At Botco in Bryan, Paula Williams of Madisonville bought one. She says she's tired of living in the dark.
"I'd like to be hooked up to the light and so we could keep things cold. Then maybe a fan." said Williams.
It's being able to help out folks, like Paula, that matters most to Botco.
"We didn't raise our prices, we lowered our prices on generators because no one here in the valley has power. So we're trying to be the team player here. We want to supply power to people that need it." said Joe Byrd with Botco.
Tuesday morning Gander Mountain received over three hundred Honda two thousand watt generators and they too are going fast.
"We've sold around 100-150 of them in the last day or so, they're going as quick as we can get them on the shelves." said Daniel Lefner with Gander Mountain.
And folks are coming as far as the Woodlands for the power providers. Simply put, it's well worth the time and effort.
But if things continue, B/CS , might get a little bigger.
"We're still holding out hope that maybe, just maybe, they'll get the power on sooner than later. But if it goes much longer than we might come here." said Doug Steck of the Woodlands.
Here's an idea of how quickly these things sale. BOTCO has 20 generators Monday night. By Tuesday at noon they were down to 1 or 2.
Here's another dealer who has generators
Redtail rental has some 5600 watt generators for sale. $1900.00 each They are commercial grade. 696-5696.
