(September 16, 2008) – “Our friends and family in the Houston and surrounding areas have been hit hard by Hurricane Ike. Washington County’s Faith Mission has been providing assistance to Hurricane Ike evacuees. Pantry supplies are running low.
“Members of Calvary Baptist Church and the Boy Scouts will be coordinating a county wide food drive at the Washington County Fair,” stated Pastor Dean E. Meade. “Everyone is invited to help.”
“This week, during the fair we will have collection containers at the main entrance of the fairgrounds on 1305 E. Bluebell Road collecting food items such as canned tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, soups and other non-perishable items. These items will then be delivered to the Faith Mission Food Pantry to help replenish their supplies and help those families impacted by Hurricane Ike,” stated Meade.
“In addition, anyone wanting to learn more about the numerous ministries and programs at Calvary Baptist Church can come by and relax at the Calvary booth located in the Commercial Exhibit Building at the Fairgrounds.
