Restoration efforts in Montgomery County turned deadly Wednesday morning.
According to Mid-South Synergy officials, Manuel Ramirez of Madison County, was killed while trying to remove trees to assist in power restoration south of Lake Conroe.
Ramirez was employed by MSEC Services, Inc., a sub-contractor and subsidiary of Mid-South Synergy.
He is survived by his mother and his two year old daughter.
"Our prayers go out to his mother, child, other family members, as well as the Mid-South family, in this tragic loss." Mid-South Synergy said. "The restoration of power is a dangerous undertaking. Men and women across Texas and the USA place themselves in harm's way on a daily basis making sure that people have power. Now, they are engaged in a massive effort to restore power to the public in the Hurricane Ike ravaged area. Let us not forget these dedicated electric linemen and utility workers who are risking their lives to restore electric service across Southeast Texas. As power restoration work continues, our prayers and concerns go out not only to the Ramirez family, but to the men and women in the field all over the country and their families awaiting their return home."
