Thanks to the generosity of the Brazos Valley Wednesday, victims of Hurricane Ike who are in need of help got a helping hand.
Through the United We Help drive headed up by the United Way and KBTX, along with numerous radio partners from Brazos Valley Communications, Bryan Broadcasting and Clear Channel, more than $102,000 were raised that will be distributed.
As the official distributing agent of funds and donations for the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, the United Way will make sure the donations will make their way to surrounding communities.
The drive began bright and early at 5:30 a.m. at the Brazos Center in Bryan and continued until 10:30 p.m., with hundreds of people driving in and lining up to donate their money and their non-perishable food items.
Our thanks go out to all those who gave generously to this cause.
