A Lufkin woman was killed and a Coldspring man was hospitalized following a head-on collision Monday in Grimes County.
It happened around 10:15 a.m. on Highway 105 about a mile west of Plantersville.
According to DPS troopers, Nila Selman, 61, was headed west on Highway 105, when Rusty Taylor, 28, was traveling east and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding into Selman's car.
Selman's vehicle went into a ditch before the interior of the car caught fire, according to DPS. Selman, who was a physical therapy technician in Lufkin, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of her death, officials said.
Taylor was taken to The College Station Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.
Authorities believe Taylor may have fallen asleep at the wheel, but the investigation continues.
