Hotel Rooms Vacate as Evacuees Return Home

Updated: Mon 11:00 PM, Sep 22, 2008

As power comes back on, hurricane evacuees are returning home and more and more hotel rooms are becoming available in the twin cities.

Just over 750 hotel rooms in Bryan/College Station are currently housing evacuees, according to information provided by the B/CS Convention and Visitors Bureau.

At the height of the storm, nearly every hotel was booked.

Association of Former Students had even asked Aggie fans to consider giving up their hotel rooms during the weekend of the Miami game to those impacted by Hurricane Ike.

Officials with the Convention and Visitors Bureau say many people from the surrounding counties stayed in local hotels when they lost power.
