WALKER COUNTY- Three men have charged with murder for the September gang-related killing of a Klein High School Student.
Cristian Zamora, 22, Ricardo Leonel Campos Lara, 18, and Jose Leonel Bonilla-Romero, 17, were indicted by a grand jury last week for their alleged roles in the murder of Josael Guevara, 16, whose body was found in Walker County two months ago.
All three men remain locked behind bars in the Walker County jail on $1 million bonds.
Guevara was found dead from multiple lacerations by a machete on Sept. 23 in the Sam Houston National Forest near Huntsville.
Authorities said evidence found at the scene, such as tire marks, helped identify the vehicle suspected of being used in the murder. The vehicle was found later that night at Zamora's residence in Walker County, and he was taken into custody. Investigators say Zamora is from El Salvador.
Officials said Bonilla-Romero and Lara were arrested about three weeks later in Houston.
Walker County District Attorney David Weeks said, "all three men have admitted to participating in Guevara's murder."
Investigators believe members of the MS-13 street gang ordered the men to murder Guevara. They said it is not known what he could have done to upset the gang.
If convicted, Zamora, Lara and Bonilla-Romero could all face up to life in prison.
