Funeral services are scheduled for Friday for a decorated war veteran and former Bryan mayor who died Sunday.
Services for Jerome "Jack" Zubik, 91, are Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at Trevino-Smith Funeral Home.
A tailor by profession, Zubik owned Zubik's Uniform Tailors at Northgate in College Station which made uniforms for members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
Zubik was elected to the Bryan City Council in 1960 and served as Mayor from 1969-1971.
He served in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in France and Germany. Zubik was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge and European Campaign Ribbon.
Zubik was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anne Zemanek Zubik. Together they raised four children.
