It is official, the Brazos Valley has gas for under $3 a gallon. It can be found at the A-1 Drive Inn in Bremond about 45 minutes northeast Bryan-College Station, and 45 minutes south in Brenham. But it may be sign of things to come.
News 3 found gas close to that price much closer to town.
Just down Highway 30 and a short 18 miles from College Station, you will find the lowest gas price near the Twin Cities. In Carlos it is going for $3.06 a gallon.
That's great news for Clint Morris who's recently replaced his diesel truck with a motorcycle due to the high prices.
"Compared to diesel, this is a big difference," Morris said. "$3.06 is a lot better."
It's also good news for Professional Bass Fisherman Ronnie Wagner who constantly has to fill up his boat.
"When you fish as much as we do, anywhere from 26 to 36 tournaments a year, the cost of gas had gotten to the point where we were practically fishing for free," Wagner said.
However, now reeling in the big one will keep more cash in Wagner's pocket and for the Carlos store it just keeps reeling in more customers.
"I saw it when I pulled up and I was shocked," one consumer said. "I didn't realize it had dropped, but what a nice surprise!"
And while the Brazos Valley doesn't have the cheapest gas in the state, having the price constantly drop is even a welcomed sight to those working at the station.
"Oh yea, I want to see it lower than this," one employee said. "Three dollars is good, but I'd like to see it at like $2.79 or $2.50. I think the gas prices are ridiculous."
